White broiler breeds:
Their breeding cycle does not exceed 40 days, and ranges from 35 days to 40 days, and they give greater weights than red broiler breeds, most of which give a weight of 2 kg at the age of 35 days. Most traders prefer them over red poultry when buying, and approximately 6 cycles can be done per year, as the profit cycle is fast. As for the disadvantages of white broiler breeds, they cannot tolerate high temperatures in the summer and cause a large number of deaths due to global warming, and they are more sensitive to respiratory diseases such as colds, mycoplasma, and CRD. Respiratory diseases and problems also increase with age, so ventilation must be adjusted throughout the breeding cycle in the barn. Among their disadvantages is the high prices of buying chicks. Also, chicks of this type need ideal environmental conditions and are not suitable for the novice breeder. Among the types of white broiler breeds are (Hubberd, Cup, Arbo Acres, Lohmann, Evian, ER, Hebbro).
Red broiler breeds:
They tolerate high temperatures more than white broiler breeds and are less sensitive to respiratory diseases such as mycoplasma than white breeds. Also, the prices of red poultry when sold are more expensive than white poultry and some traders prefer to buy them. They also suit the capabilities of the novice breeder. Many customers prefer them over white poultry because after cooking, the taste of their meat is closer to that of local poultry. The price of buying chicks is relatively cheaper than buying chicks of white broiler breeds. As for its disadvantages, the fattening cycle takes two months or more, and the number of breeding cycles per year ranges from 4 to 5 cycles only.
